Frequently Asked Questions
To save us some back & forth, we have created a list of Q&A’s!
Q: How long have you been a photographer?
Ashley: I picked up a disposable camera at a young age & realized I loved capturing images of my family & nature. I was always too shy to try to take pictures of my friends, so I didn’t discover my love of portraits until later in life. As I got older, my father started running a real estate book business where part of his job was to photograph houses. It was my first time seeing a DSLR in person. I used to take his camera out & then try to edit the images in a horrible free online program. It wasn’t until 2017 that I picked up a DSLR with the intention to really learn what I was doing. I’ve been taking images regularly ever since.
Q: When will we receive our images/video?
A: Our turn around time for smaller photo sessions (portraits, families, couples ect…) is 2 weeks. For larger photo sessions, such as weddings, the turn around can be up to 6 weeks. Your images will be delivered to you in an online gallery.
Video projects vary in time. For any video project we will lay out a timeline with you to set accurate expectations based on the project demand.
Q: What should I wear to my session?
A: When it comes down to taking a good portrait, less is more. This is the approach we recommend for tame sessions. We tend to shy away from bold patterns as they can be distracting & ask you to hide away things like your sunglasses, keys & phone. If your session is with other people, we recommend you all staying in a similar colour scheme. If you’re unsure of your outfit choice, send an email to email@example.com & we would be happy to give you a second opinion.
Q: Do I get to choose which images are edited?
A: Many clients would be surprised to know that a photographer can easily walk away with 1000+ photos from a session! Part of our job is to go through each and every image to cut out any that are out of focus or that are not flattering of you. From that point, we edit the best of the best and deliver them to you in an online gallery.
Don’t worry, we won’t hold back any keepers from you!
Q: Do I get to review the video before it’s completed?
A: Yes! Our half day video package includes one revision prior to the finalization of your project. Our full day video package includes two revisions to help ensure the project exceeds your expectations.
We use Final Cut Pro to edit our videos. If you have access to the program we can send the project to you so you can add your notes directly, or we can send it to you via Dropbox & you can send your notes to us via email with time codes.
Q: Do you collect a retainer? When is the balance due?
A: Yes! A 50% retainer is due at the time of booking in order to reserve your date. It is to be understood that no dates are reserved until a deposit is paid. To make things simple, you can pay your deposit through our website (coming soon) or by e-transfer.
The remaining balance for photo projects is to be paid prior to the session. For video projects, the remaining balance is paid upon the approval of the final draft. No final images or videos will be released without the payment being made in full.
Q: Do you offer any discounts?
A: We do! We offer a 15% off discount to any local business that books us for a business branding package (photo and/or video). Send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for details!
Q: Where will my session take place? Will you travel to me?
A: We are based out of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. Most sessions include one location of your choice within city limits.
We both love to travel and are happy to come to you for an additional price, this includes destination weddings. Price increase would vary depending on location & accommodations.
Q: Do you offer free collaborations with local artists?
A: We started growing our company by working with models in our area for free. It allowed us to build up our skills and confidence in a low stress environment. Now that we have crafted our skills, and took the leap to running our business full time, we are mostly taking on paid work from clients. We’re still open to collaborations, however it is normally us coming up with an idea that we want to execute and then putting out a model call on our social media platforms to fill the roles.
Q: What is your cancellation & rescheduling policy?
A: If you need to change the date and/or time or your session, we ask that you please notify us in writing via email and/or text 48 hours prior to your photoshoot. This allows us to potentially fill the void in our schedule & book another client who wanted that slot.
The only exception to this rule is the weather. If we wake up the day of your session and it’s down pouring, we’ll work with you to find a solution.
Please note that failure to provide proper notification will result in a 30% reschedule/booking fee.
Q: Will you still be hosting meetups for local creatives?
A: Yes! Last year we hosted a series of meetups for local photographers & models across the Maritimes! We had a chance to meet so many wonderful creatives & share an experience with them. We have since said goodbye to the online community that linked us together to focus on new business goals of our own. However hosting meetups is the one piece of the pie we can’t let go of because they’re so much fun. We will be offering meetups on a quarterly basis for a low cost to help us bring them up to the next level & add an educational aspect to them.
Q: What if we have bad weather?
A: Please note that our retainers are non-refundable. We are reasonable human beings and understand life can get in the way. If the weather is bad on the day of our session we will work with you to find another date. Please keep in mind we book sessions months in advance. If we have to reschedule due to weather there may be a delay for the reshoot day.
If rescheduling the photoshoot isn’t an option (weddings), we will work with you to find an indoor location that is suitable for your session within reason.
